When Things Never Work Out For You

​​I have clients who come to me feeling down, lacking in motivation, frustrated and unhappy because things just never seem to work out for them. Working with people in this line of work, particularly with my business coaching clients, one of the biggest challenges I face when helping them is getting them to realise that no matter what situation they find themselves in nothing will change unless they take hold of their mindset.  

Moreover, unless you are prepared to be brutally honest with yourself and sort your mindset out, nothing will ever change. Sometimes I find myself having to be the one that's brutally honest with my clients and put my fierce warrior coach heart into these types of sessions. It is not always easy, but it needs to happen. Otherwise, my clients would never get the shifts they get when they work with me. Ask any of my clients, and they will tell you when I see it, I say it! 

In most cases it is never the situations but the way in which you are approaching things in your life. People do not like to hear that because it is so much easier blaming outside factors than being honest with ourselves about the quality of our thinking.

If you do not change your mindset and keep changing the situation, you will keep encountering the same problems or challenges; the only difference will be that they are in a different set of circumstances or a different context.

Take the person who keeps changing jobs because they never get along with their manager or the person who keeps going into relationships with the wrong people or person who's best friend keeps letting them down. Moreover, I could go on; I see it all the time in the work I do. I am not just preaching either or spilling some philosophical or theoretical mumbo jumbo. I am speaking from both professional and personal experiences. 

I have been there, complained about the jobs, complained about my relationships, complained about my business. Made numerous changes and still complained because the only things that had changed were the outside circumstances, and I was still having the same problems. Things were still not working out for me. My mindset, my thinking remained the same! I was still complaining, still being negative, still talking about problems and feeling angry, jealous or resentful. Yep, I did all those things! Guess what; nothing changed until I changed my thinking and worked on the quality of my internal thoughts and dialogue. Nothing changes until we change!

So If things never seem to work out for you or go the way you would like them to go and you want to change anything in your life, the first place to start is with your thinking. Shifting your mindset into the right gear will guarantee that you move in new directions in all areas of your life and very quickly you will begin to notice how things just seem to work out for you.
